State airline. Recruits type-rated B737 and B787 pilots in campaigns and also hires foreign contract pilots for the B787.

Pay

Biman publishes no pilot pay scale, and the press figures found are older and not split by rank, so no range is shown. Before the Covid pay cut, monthly pay ran from about BDT 232,000 for a new pilot to BDT 600,000–800,000 after 5–10 years, with the most senior pilots at about BDT 1.6 million including all allowances (January 2021). During Covid pay was cut to BDT 153,000–500,000 a month; pilots later pressed for the old scale. Flying pay of BDT 4,200 an hour for first officers and BDT 4,900 for captains came on top. Contract B737 pilots were paid about BDT 900,000 a month before tax, without medical or loss-of-licence insurance (September 2023).
