The FlySafair careers portal (Nov 2026) shows one flight-deck vacancy: permanent First Officers for Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Lanseria (3 positions, posted 21 Oct 2026). No captain, command-upgrade or Hercules vacancy was open. Ownership is changing: Harith General Partners agreed in Feb 2026 to buy Safair Operations, the parent of FlySafair, from its ASL-linked shareholders; the Competition Commission recommended conditional approval in July 2026, and the deal still needed Tribunal and licensing clearance.
Captain range is the airline's own figure quoted in SA press during the July 2025 strike (R1.8-2.3 million a year); Solidarity said only a small group of senior captains earn at that level. No first officer figures published; adverts say 'market related'. August 2025 settlement after a 12-day strike: base increases of 6%, 6.5%, 6.8% and 6.9% over four years, with matching yearly adjustments to travel, accommodation and medical allowances; extra pay for hours flown above 65 per month; one-off ex gratia of 15% of monthly salary; up to five leave days may be cashed in. The Independent on Saturday (22 Jul 2025) put the captain range at roughly R150,000–R191,000 a month; the airline did not say whether it is base salary or the full package with flight pay and bonuses. Settlement signed 1 Aug 2025 with Solidarity through the CCMA. Contracts are permanent and local; applicants must be South African citizens. Safair note: Safair Operations is the same company and AOC (the careers portal says 'Safair Operations, operating as FlySafair'), so the Safair ACMI, charter and cargo side (L-100-30 Hercules and B737-400 passenger, combi and freighter) belongs to this employer. Safair's fleet page still lists L-100-30s, but a Flightline Weekly piece describes a final Safair L-100 flight, so the Hercules fleet may be shrinking or retired; not confirmed.
