ASL Airlines Australia: pilot jobs, pay and conditions
Australia · Cargo · PH / PHA
Hiring status unknown
Part of the ASL Aviation group: also ASL Airlines United Kingdom, FlySafair, K-Mile Asia, Quikjet Airlines
Formerly Pionair. ASL Aviation Holdings bought it and renamed it in April 2023. It flies freight on an ACMI basis, mainly for Qantas Freight and, since September 2025, B737-800BCF services for FedEx. It has started flying from the new Western Sydney airport. In August 2026 it announced four more B737-800BCFs, some moved from ASL's European fleet, so 737 crew demand should rise. A conditional May 2026 deal to buy Airwork's freight business did not complete; Airwork's receivers said in September 2026 that the sale process was still running. The careers page (Nov 2026) lists no pilot vacancies. It points to Seek and the ASL group portal and gives recruitmentasla@aslairlines.com as a contact. The group portal had no Australian pilot roles in Nov 2026.
Pay
No pilot pay figure was found. No enterprise agreement under the Pionair or ASL Airlines Australia name turned up in FairWorkMate or AFAP searches, and the FWC document server could not be opened from this research environment. The careers page says ASL's employment terms are standardised across its airlines but gives no figures. An old Pionair BAe 146 advert (Sept 2020) and the PPRuNe Australian wages thread give no salary either. A Pionair heading in the PPRuNe thread has no numbers under it. A second search (Nov 2026) also found nothing. It covered the PPRuNe wage compilation pages and archive, the PPRuNe Pionair/Virgin Cargo thread (2017 BAe 146 advert, where terms came only in an emailed information pack), FairWorkMate and AFAP. Easy Flight Training's Dec 2020 Pionair advert and the PPRuNe 'ASL Aviation purchases Pionair' thread could not be opened. The only figures under a Pionair heading in the 2018 PPRuNe compilation belong to Airnorth, so they are not used here.
