How Ryanair DAC selects pilots: 6 selection stages and 29 interview questions from candidates' accounts. Use them to practise; they are examples, not official answers.
Selection stages
- Online application
- Paid online assessment (Aon/cut-e, ~EUR 55-60) incl. aptitude modules
- Recorded one-way video interview (some cycles)
- Short ATPL knowledge quiz (some cycles: 30 questions in 10 min)
- One-day assessment in Dublin (or partner sim centre): briefing, HR/competency interview, technical interview, paired B737 sim
- Result within ~1-7 working days; type rating course
Tests
- Cut-e (Aon): spatial orientation, complex control, numerical, reaction, hand-eye coordination/monitoring
- Video interview (~20 s prep, <1 min answer, no re-record)
- ATPL quiz
Simulator check
B737-800 FFS flown in pairs as PF and PM, ~45 min; SID departure, general handling (turns/climbs at set speeds), navaid/position work, vectors and raw-data ILS; some profiles add a return to field, hold with fuel concern, cargo fire or ILS failures. CRM and trainability weighted over precision.
By rank
- Cadet: Future Flyer Academy cadets apply via approved training partners, pass school aptitude testing then the one-day Ryanair assessment; technical questions for low-hour candidates may focus on their training aircraft (e.g. C152).
- Captain: DE Captain requires recent B737 command; no separate process details found.
- First officer: Type-rated or non-rated DE FO: same one-day assessment; NTR joiners pay for the B737 type rating (~EUR 29-30k ).
