Still operating under its own FAA Part 121 certificate after leaving Chapter 11 in December 2023. After the FAA grounded the MD-11 following the UPS crash of 4 Nov 2025, Western Global furloughed about 70 pilots indefinitely in late November 2025 with one day's notice. Its first MD-11F returned to service on 21 May 2026 (military-related flights to Rota, Sigonella, Djibouti), with the other 14 MD-11s parked at that time; the 747-400Fs were not covered by the grounding. No pilot recall or new hiring found.
Pay
Pilots are on company terms while ALPA negotiates a first contract (talks since 2022, federal mediation since Oct 2024, sessions scheduled into April 2026; no tentative agreement found). Airline Pilot Central (last updated Oct 2023) shows a scale headed 'BASE (17 days)' with FO $527 (yr1) to $697 (yr12) and Captain $743 (yr1) to $983 (yr12), and overtime from day 18 at twice base. The page does not label the unit; the amounts fit a per-day rate under a 17-day monthly minimum guarantee, so they are not entered as monthly figures here. The company can extend involuntarily to 20 days; more needs pilot consent. Training pay listed as $6,000/month in Miami until IOE or 30 days after the type ride.
