Batik Air Malaysia: pilot jobs, pay and conditions
Malaysia · Low-cost · OD / MXD
Hiring status unknown
Part of the Lion Air Group group: also Lion Air
Still operating in 2026 (53 aircraft in Jan 2026, with 10 more B737s and A330s planned). In April 2026 it cut up to 35% of flights for two weeks because of fuel costs and offered voluntary unpaid leave to about 3,500 staff. No open pilot vacancy was found on an official or agency page. Past aggregator adverts for B737 captains and co-pilots were open to Malaysian citizens only.
Pay
No pilot pay figure for Batik Air Malaysia could be found in any official, agency, press or forum source on 2026-11-01. The PilotJobsNetwork wiki has no pay data and was last updated in Nov 2020, after retrenchments. In Dec 2025 the Industrial Court ordered Malindo Airways to pay RM1.44 million to three pilots (a captain, a senior first officer and a first officer) who were unfairly let go on 1 Nov 2020: RM596,000 each for the captain and the SFO and RM252,000 for the FO. The award does not give monthly salaries. Aggregator salary ranges (e.g. jobleads) were left out because they are not tied to a real advert. Second search on 2026-11-01 also found no figure: the Malay Mail, The Vibes and Malaysian Insight articles on the court award and the 2020 retrenchment give no monthly salaries, ch-aviation's report on the award is behind a paywall, the PilotJobsNetwork pay fields are blank, PilotsGlobal has no reviews, the Jan 2025 B737 recruitment advert lists no pay, and Glassdoor/Indeed Malaysia salary pages for Batik Air and Malindo could not be opened. Monthly salaries were not worked back from the award totals, because the award breakdown is not public. In March 2020 Malindo asked staff to take basic-pay cuts of up to 50% (Malaysian Insight, 7 Mar 2020).
